Hey guys,

New to the forums and looking to jump on the Group Buy# 3 for the waterproof 100mW green laser.

One of the posts states that it leaks about 50mW IR.

I guess if you are pointing outside, with minimal reflections this isn't a problem, but on the insides I guess its an issue?

I know the answer is usually "it depends", but how much would the LPF members be comfortable with?

Thanks.

Green lasers are for pointing... not burning... as a result I really don't see any problem with IR. Indoors aside from taking out the laser to look at the beam... well I don't really ever look at the dot or the resulting reflection so it's not an issue.

Outside... not a concern at all. So far the most IR producing laser I have is the 400mW o-like torch, with about ~50mW of ir in the mix. If you're concerned about it though, there are goggles that work for green and IR... Garoq just started selling some actually.

Going back to original question though.... Anything over 5mW in a direct hit is not safe. The wavelength really doesn't matter... 5mW of ir = 5mW of 532nm.
