Hi,

I would like to know if 445 diode can work at 4V /400mA, I get a very weak blue point (like led) .
Thanks

Re: informationfor 445 diode

I do believe the lasing threshold is around 250mA, so you may have killed the diode if you're getting an LED output.

So its my first blue dead led :(
He started to make 2/3 flashs, I make power off.
I power on the led and got weak !!.
Sorry for my bad english, i am better in french .
A+

not necessarily dead I don't think.. you did say 4V? 4V is too low.. IIRC these diodes require ~5.5V. I'd try supplying the diode with the proper voltage before you declare it dead.

I was thinking the same thing.

@OP, is this the A130 or A140 diode? I always refer back to some testing Lasersbee did, located here:

A130: http://laserpointerforums.com/f65/post-your-ma-mw-51432-9.html#post724309

A140: http://laserpointerforums.com/f65/post-your-ma-mw-51432-10.html#post728480

According to the numbers, the A130 doesn't seem as efficent as the A140. I hope it didn't LED on you.
Hope this helps :yh:

Didnt some members power their builds with a 3.7v lith with no driver?

I believe there are a couple, Dave, Larry, and Jayrob come to mind. I think Dave's and Jayrob's were small builds and Larry's was a 18650.

Soooo they worked under 4v. Right?

Not trying to argue, its just what I was basing my layman's opinion on.

I can't say for sure, not having tried to run them below their rated voltage.. but normally if you run a component below it's rated voltage you don't get full output.

You're right. By this graph some will and some wont.

LOL. But you're right, I forgot about those until you mentioned it. I just always seem to remember the testing Lasersbee did and I also forgot DTR, he did some bench tests as well.

Finicky little diodes  Go figure

After build a test load for driver controle :
Driver take 4.5 v/800mA (5 diodes + ~ 1V take from the 1 ohms) .
Led is very weak.
With direct drive 4.6/1.3A max , led also very weak :yabbmad:
Conclusion, my 445 led is 100% dead
I don't know if 445 from lvyilaser is an A130 or A140 led.
Thanks friends for your comments and suggestions.

Hi Berni, are you still using the same driver but with the upgrades?

If mine gets down to 5v it is dim or just shuts down.

Your voltage is still too low, which has a good chance of being the problem here. These diodes need 5.5V to work properly in most cases. Your diode could still be dead, but until you give it the proper voltage there's no way to be sure.

Buy a diode from one of our guys. Ivyilaser's diodes are still not tested, or even confirmed to be real.
