I got this laser for free and it dose not have a pot to mod. I can burn with a lens on the outside of the unit and can feel slight heat on my hand without a lens. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks
I know it’s not 240 mw it’s more like 20 mw it has an ir filter in it. labled as 240 mw. Looking to mod it to get as much power out of it. remember I got it for free
It would be really interesting to get the low down on it before and after and potential pot mod.
1) Get a power reading (peak and over time) as is....
2) place an IR filter in front of it with a known value, test it again (this will show how much IR you have stock)
3) perform your pot mod
4) Repeat steps 1+2.
That would make a really good write up!!!
Oh..and don't forget the pictures...
THere is nothing wrong with FREE!!
However I believe the general consensus is that those E-bay lasers are....Ummmmm...How do I say this.....??
Of Questionable Quality???
I don’t have a meter and my multimeter died so I can’t do the green led check. It has NO pot. To mod. I have pics of board but vary blury. I’ll try to get better pics and thanks for the welcome to the forum
Well the Green LED trick is worthless and as to modding it the only way I can see you getting more power from it is either to remove the IR filter (not recommended as very dangerous) or maybe by changing the resistors or designing a whole new driver so the diode will receive more power which I can't recommend either sorry as it will either severely shorten the life of the diode or kill it straight away.
Normally find that by using Lithium batteries that there is an increase in power.
If you want to find out what power it is we have members all over with meters who can check that for you.
Sorry to be so negative and welcome to the forums.
i have a mate who just recently bought a greenie off ebay.
he paid £75 (140$) the label says 100mw - its very very bright indeed, but if u look closely at beam from the side, i could notice like an outer field of smudged light, (like a saber)
wouldnt this be IR since ebay lasers dont come equipped with an IR filter?
also i would appreciate if someone could tell me exactly y IR is bad for us?
thanx
in a foggy environment u can literally see like a smudgin light all around the entire beam, gets bigger as beam diverges i thought it were IR the laser was spitting out, since most ebay lasers dont come equipped with 1?
