IMR Battery question

One quick question...

I do know that IMR batteries are for high drain devices... 1.6A+, and I was thinking about purchasing some. I have one 445 running on 3x 14500's (1.65A current) and a Spartan 1W running on 2x 3.0V tenergy lifep04's. do either of these warrant running IMR batreries ? I know the 445 running on the 3x is high current, but I didn't know if 3 batteries meant that that 1.6A IMR current would be lessened since we are using more than one cell.

AFAIK LiFePO4's are high current batteries, they just have a lower potential than std lithium batteries. If you are running your 445 on 3 x 14500's Im guessing you have a buck driver, (but it could also be a linear - does it get hot quickly?) and so the current wont be that high.

If you had a boost, running off one cell, it would be different. Chances are, by getting better batteries you'll simply increase your run time; although pls be aware that IMRs generally have a lower capacity when compared to other Li batteries. :beer:

If these are in series, then you are drawing too much current.

(especially if they are not name-brand cells)

IMR cells would perform better.
