i think i burned my diode please help!!!

Sorry. It's burned out. "Pot modding" is rarely a good idea unless you "know" that the current was set low intentionally. Even then it should be done with the diode replaced by a dummy load. Pots can sometimes "jump" dramatically with just a very slight movement

I am sure that Kendall did NOT set it low on that unit.

yea the pot was all the way to the left (lowest setting) but yea im thinking of sending it back for him to fix it correctly instead of me trying to get the housing out of the heatsink. i saw the diode extractors on the forum but not sure how hard it is to use. Ill probably just let the pros handle it.:yh:

The diode is dead now so you can just mash it out with a screw driver:yh:

It really is not that hard to build a laser... You should try it!
