i messed my dx laser up ! plz heelp :(

Ok i purchased the 100mw pot moded green laser bout 2 months ago from Deal Extreme..

Today i had the stupid idea of unscrewing the heatsink, and i realised that there were another thing unscreweable, i think it's called the "focus"?, well.. i was able to burn some stuff like my mouse and my cellphone, and i was so happy until i re-screwed those parts, and now i have a quite dirty big dot. i tried to "clean" the lenses with my SHIRT (yeah.. how stupid) and it got worse.

Well i readed some external forum how to clean the lenses (yeah with a q-tip and a soft cloth for cleaning sunglasses) but the problem now is the "focus"

is my laser dead ?

you didn't mounted the lenses in the right place, and anyways they look like bad mounted and dirty

The fact that you still have green output means that all is not lost, you are going to need to clean the lens. If you have had it out clean both sides....do not try cleaning anything behind the lens!
Then you will just have to play with the lens position with very small, as in a degree of turn at a time, until you get the best looking dot.

Ok guyz, I haven't cleaned the lens yet. I don't know why you told me that I put wrongly the lens on.



The third stuff is the thing i removed to burn things, and i dont know what it's name, is that actually the lens?

the beam gets thicker than before, the dot is about 10 cm at ~50ft, it is just because it's dustiness ? i hope so cause I have to sell this pointer tomorrow

then re-focus it....

, look for a thing that has a SEE THROUGH part... meaning its the lens... there SHOULD only be one on that tiny laser.. turn the lens with a screwdriver "FLATHEAD!!!! not philips" do the turning with the laser ON. turn it a little one way, and if the dot gets BIGGER then your turning it the wrong way. eventualy the "DOT" you so badly desire will magicly apear!!, takes a very light hand to get it JUST right. you want the beam focused to infinity, that means so the dot is nearly as small at 100ft away at it is at 1ft away. hope it helped. but rog already told you everything you need to know to solve the problem...i simply expanded on his solution.
