Ok, so I just completed my first build, and no matter how I adjust the laser housing, I never seem to be able to make a spot which is smaller then 3 inches at 10 feet without a red glow around the point. There seems to be a "ideal focal range" where the bright point and the lighter ring are the same size, but unfortunately that spot is enormous! Is there any way to focus it to a smaller point?

Are you sure you don't have the lens in backwards?
Also make sure the lens isn't dirty.. It can look crystal clear to the eye and still be dirty enough to have horrible scatter.
It could also be a LD problem. Can you post pics of what your talking about?
