Amazon.com: NEW Highly- Astronomy Military Adjustable Focus Blue-violet Laser Pointer Tactical Pen With Safety Key 5mW 405nm 18650: Electronics

I ordered this off Amazon the other day for the hell of it. I can't seem to find much about the company online, but at 25 dollars it won't break the bank if it doesn't work well, so I figured why not? It's coming from China so it'll take a month to get here but when it does I'll post some pictures.

They claim it's "5mW" but obviously it isn't, since they also claim it can cut tape and light matches. I guess we'll see what happens, hopefully it doesn't burn out right away.

Apparently they can come with an Ultrafire 18650 Li-ion battery and charger but I didn't order those, I ordered an LG charger and battery (2800 mAh) separately.

yourlasers.com (dealextreme) sells 405nm lasers rated at 200mW but obviously underspec for $23 I guess.

I bought one, they can light matches and cut tapes easily because of their wavelenght, worth buying

I am amazed at how low their price is for that host as well. I have the same exact host for a 532nm and its rock solid.

Too bad it's only 100mw though, I'd want at least 200mW of 405nm goodness but 400mW is too expensive for now... Maybe in the next groupbuy :shhh:

The 100mW is a steal of a deal, anything over that and it would be far more worth it just to build your own IMO. My 634mW 405nm cost me like $120 when I made it a while back and that is very cheap compared to what they sell for most of the time off a website.

Apex: I'll gladly pay you 120$ for a 500+ mW 405nm ;) I'd even throw in a bit more so you can make some profit :p

That number is from what I made my first one like 3 months ago. Anyway, PM me if you want to talk about it.

Ok I will but not before 2013 I fear. I've spent too much on lasers for now and still have to buy a lot of christmas presents. But be sure that half way january you'll get a PM from me ;)
