Looks great so far!

Welcome fellow Virginian... :D

Hey Trevor. I see you have a lens as your avatar. Have you ever tried making a flashlight with a lens as the beam focuser? Not only can you focus the beam but you can use the aperture ring to change the beam size. It's perfect if you're painting with light (using LEDs mostly).

I have played around with a flashlight and lenses in the newsroom a few times.

But, when light painting (I was actually out working with Tackyshack and another friend last night until like 4:00AM) we'll more often snoot a flashlight or speedlight rather than put an optic in front of it.

Love light painting though; always a great investment of time.

I've read both, thanks!
My biggest dilemma at the moment is what laser to get for camping.
If it were just me than it would be a no brainer, but there will be over a dozen people and lots of alcohol involved so I'll probably just wind up bringing a laser pointer :(

Edit: not just because I don't have 12 pairs of goggles but also I'm afraid of people playing with it improperly while i'm downriver
