Hi All,
Great forum you have going here. I work on a portable microscope project as a graduate student and have previously used LEDs. However, due to changes in the microscope I get a big power drop from my optics to my fiber optic cable (due to a numerical aperture mismatch that can't be avoided) so I need higher power than the LED will offer. Interestingly, I'm pretty sure I can get away with running the laser on less current and voltage (I guess I could have just said power!) than the LED I was using before.
Just getting started here and all the threads have been really helpful. I am, however, finding it difficult to find a driver. I had chosen the microflex v5 but it seems like both jeff and dr lava are not around. I'm working on figuring out that problem, but think I have purchased all the rest of the relevant components!
Anyway, I'm so glad this forum exists!
Ben
