i got a second hand red laser about 2 months back.

the laser diode does not seem to be working.

i was wondering if i could replace it with the 445nm diodes from the
casio XJ-A140 projector.

Can someone please give me some advice??

Here the link for the photos

If you unsolder the diode and replace it with a test load of regular black 6-8 diodes and a 1 ohm resistor you will be able to see if your driver is of a type capable of delivering the required voltage and current for a A140.
It will also let you set the new current for a A140.

Short version, they are not easily interchangeable.

Well, that depends on you skills, tools, and willingness for DIY.
My signature contain a link to a nice beginners laser kit, and to a good laser building guide.
If nothing else you have a nice looking host there, likely with a functional driver.

I assume the diode died on you after some use, likely from overheating or simply from being set too high?
