Can someone please tell me what the purpose of a spam bot is? I would imagine the only practical use would be for advertising. Obviously there must be a different reason too.

These aren't even spam bots. Some loser finds it funny to make a bunch of new accounts just to post these pointless threads.

Actually, these probably are spam bots. Some forums have a modification that after 1 post, a user can post URLs. These spam bots are trying to get past that but because this forum's limit is at 20 posts, it gets stopped when it tries to post a link in its second post.
