Hi
I'm Tim, live in The Netherlands and i am addicted to laser light.
I came here to read all the interesting threads/posts about the science of lasers, and to see your awesome DIY laser pointers. Some of the lasers i've seen on the forum are pieces of art, respect to the builders that have spent many hours to make it look like a device from the year 2400.
I am currently building an amplifier like the one in the NIF (a lot smaller of course), it has 6 slabs 50 x 30 x 5 mm of Nd:glass (silicate) as the medium and it's going to be pumped by xenon flashlamps. It's still on the drawingboard but i will make a thread about it so i can post updates of the building process. I have KDP at home for growing crystals, and at the time the laser is up and running, i will try to get some 532 nm light out of it.
