Hi Guys,

New to the forum. Super keen to make a burner!
Got a AixiZ module ordered along with a driver
Planning on grabbing the diode out of a 16x dvd burner that i have here..

As for housing.. Not sure, probably a hobby box or something at this stage..

Not sure what kind of power to use yet, maybe 3 rechargeable AA's?

Also not sure what kind of output power i will get yet.. 150-160 im guessing.

Is it difficult (obviously not with this 16x diode) to get something 250-350+ output?

Sticking with red lasers for the moment until the confidence is up. ;D

flashlights are probably easier I think to use than a hobby box, you don't have to cut up anything or drill anything, just take it apart, do some soldering and put it back together.

it is not difficult to get 300mW, just need a high current driver, a 20x diode (or 22x) an aixiz module, a heat sink, and a power source. a glass lens helps too.

good luck,
Kendall
