hi
im wanting to get a higher powered green laser. it would have to be a module, as all "complete" lasers are taken by customs . some that i have in mind are the:

o-like 150mw $100 (not IR filtered)

the laserlands 150mw $65 (IR filtered apparently) 30 second warmup

and the DX 200mw $50 (i know its really more like 120mw with a lot of IR, but hey its cheap :D) 60-90 second warmup.

which module would you buy? has anyone got any of these modules? how good are they?

im probably leaning more toward the laserlands module at the moment... the DX would be annoying as it takes too long to light up fully and leaks lots of IR compared to others, and i have heard some bad things about the o-likes being underspec (i have no LPM so i will not be able to verify the output).

:thanks: Hugo.

O-like modules aren't underspec. When you order a 50mW module from O-like you sometimes get even 80mW. I don't know about their 150mW laser, but it shouldn't be underspec.
As for the DX, you're wright. You usually get 120mW, sometimes even less.
But I'm not sure about laserlands, I haven't heard much about their lasers, but it doesn't look like it will be up to spec because it seems too cheap.

Did you end up getting one?

I got the laserlands 150mw but the beam spreads after it warms up. doesnt burn my matchs either, but cuts tape.

"Beam spreading" isn't normal. It's called mode hopping and it means your laser is overheating.

The beam should remain as one dot the whole time.

I can adjust the focus lens so the dot is solid, however the divergence becomes bad. approx 20mm @ 5m.

other option is to focus it so the "mode hopping" becomes apparent once warm, and begins to hop from TEM 00 - TEM 10 - TEM 20.

At the moment the module isn't in a host. I'm ordering a eghemus host for heatsink/sexy.
But even after 40sec on, the copper module temp hasn't changed. Circuit board warms alittle.
