This could be the end of our driver problems!
I, as you may know, designed a driver for Kenom's barrel GB. In conjunction with drlava. Much thanks to him, i couldnt have done it without him! :)
Now I am offering them separately.
These are professionally printed, solder masked and silk screened PCBs, fully assembled and tested w/ all components.

The second picture is 1:1 with 1280 x 1024 resolution on a 17" screen. I included a ruler on the bottom, of TWO CENTIMETRES. To help you get an idea of the size.
Dimensions are 0.693" by 1" or 17mm by 25.4mm.

It is totally variable current with a solder pad w/ resistors for selecting BluRay or red diode current ranges.
BluRay 12mA to 80mA, Red 80mA to 350mA.
Note that this is a Low DropOut (LDO) regulator, and has a theoretical 1V drop Vin to Vout. So you could (theoretically) run a BluRay diode on only 5.5V input, or a red on 3.5. That said, it can also cope with voltages up to 13V so you can run it off pretty much anything.
Recommended to add some sorta heatsink to the chip if you are running it above 200mA. But its up to you.

[edit]Price!!Blanket price of $4 per board plus $1.50 postage per order in the continental US.[/edit]
This driver is being prototyped (by me) at the moment, I am currently waiting on parts.
So what u think? Whos in for one? :p
I have already had interest for FOUR in about 30 seconds on IRC so I thought I'd see whos in for one here.

Re: GB feeler - Laser diode drivers

srry it was meant to say "CAN'T" rather than can. maybe you could send them to DD to distribute in the uk or something, thats the only option really.

Re: GB feeler - Laser diode drivers

DD... DDL? As in Daedal?
And I don't think $10 postage is something to be "afraid" of :p though it is a little high on a $5 item.

Re: GB feeler - Laser diode drivers

if you want, you could mail a bunch to one of us here in the states and then they could mail them out to individuals and the shipping would only be $1-2.

Re: GB feeler - Laser diode drivers

If it works out to a LOT less for postage, I'll be in for at least 1.
What will be the final dimensions?
I see you've already designed the board, but would a circular board be possible?
Also, may I offer to be the US distribution hub? PM me if you'd like.

Re: GB feeler - Laser diode drivers

yea i would be happy to distribute them for you, but would rather it be SenKat, ask hhim i would buy a few if it wasnt for shipping but if you can have someone in the states distribute them, as drlava said shippig would be 1-2$ USD

Re: GB feeler - Laser diode drivers

Hey can you take a picture of the board with a ruler next to it or something? The only reason I'd want a pre-assembled board is if it is very small in size and so can be easily fit into containers. I've actually found that soldering these things into DIP sockets is pretty space efficient and the only way to make it better/smaller is to go with a board design like above.

Re: GB feeler - Laser diode drivers

It is very small and I have reconfirmed the dimensions in my first post.
No I am NOT redesigning the board at this stage, though if you desperately want a round board I could make one custom for about $30... Bulk pricing helps a lot here.
And I've asked SenKat about being a US hub. The idea would be, the price goes up like $0.25 for each of you (if we get enough) then you separately pay SenKat however much it costs him to ship to you.
