I found a test load for drivers on ebay which looks pretty nice. Wanted to share the find for those who want to preset the current from your driver. I don't know what the range the jumps can be for current, waiting for an answer from the seller and will update this post when I get it.

Test Load Dummy Load Selectable to 3A DIY Kit LED or Laser Drivers | eBay

It is so simple, you could just build your own, but this save the trouble.

Here's another one with just parts, no circuit board: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Heavy-Duty-Test-Load-Kit-for-Laser-Diode-Driver-3000mA-/260705531970

and another: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Component-B...ode-Test-Load-with-Instructions-/151307818501 in the UK.

If nothing else, looking at the photo in the second link can be helpful to see how to build your own out of parts you might find much cheaper locally.

Here's a schematic and thread on the subject from a few years ago: http://laserpointerforums.com/f38/test-load-44348-2.html

I dunno if the ebay seller is Jufran but if he isn't I'd suggest anyone to by directly from Jufran, he's a great seller! :D

Well, I received a delivery notice on ebay Friday for the diode tester and it is NOT in my mail box, isn't that lovely, USPS must have delivered it to another box, ebay rules on delivery can leave you out in the cold when the post office does that.

I bought the same one and usps put it in my neighbors mailbox.. how weird that happened to both of us lol. great product though..

I have one of these too. You can buy one already assembled from Jufran or from Survival Laser. I recommend everyone have one of these or a similar test load, even if you buy all of your drivers preset, you may need it to troubleshoot a problem if you assemble a laser and it doesn't work or if a laser quits working.

Couldn't agree any more with you! And Gary over at S/L is such a great guy to deal with! Its helpful to buy them as a DIY kit if your still new to the hobby! At least in my opinion.. And its more gratifying lol

Although not as pretty, test loads can be built easily for pennies! I just throw some 1N4001 rectifiers in series with a 1 ohm resistor when I need a test load. It shouldn't cost more than 50 cents and it'll work the same as any test load you can buy online!

Got me on that one

I never understood the need to mount a test load on a PCB. I just clip to the number of diodes I want to use rather than use a jumper rated for <0.5A

Yea I got allow l alot of power supplies I can harvest and I got a five or ten watt resistor from radio shack so that is doable.I sure don't want to order something from China and wait six to eight weeks for j it.....I'll bite the dust on four to six builds by then.but tell me,I was told that a zombie ld also would work.
If this is true then I am not proud to say that I have plenty dummy loads
