Easy Way to Boost a 9mm Diode to 3W???

Hey,

I am planning a 3W 445 build with a 9mm diode and I am trying to find a way to not have a double 18650 build. I would like to go single 18650 and I will not use 16340's because at that amount of current draw they die too fast.

Is there an easy way to drive a 9mm diode off of a couple Microboosts or something? I would like to achieve 2.2A so I would need 1.1A from each driver I guess?

Not sure how to go about this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Isaac

That is Lazeerer's driver correct?

And thanks for the reply!

How much current do you need?

I guess it could work...but you'd
better contact DTR! ;)

I would consider the possibility that the diode might not make it. I wanted 3W used the Lazeerer driver at 2.3A in a sinner host, 2 18650s, with the G2 lens and only got 2700mW. Seems the diodes vary.
Maybe shoot for 2.4A with the extracted 9mm lens.

I used two converted drivers to boost from two 18650 in parallel. Drives around 2.4A into a 9mm diode. Peaks at 3.2W but the draw on the cells reach 4A total so you'd definitely need good cells and springs there.

Full disclosure: I am either going to be building a 9mm at 2A to 2.4A(honestly I doubt I would feel the difference) or a 638 Mitsu at 1400mA. It will be going in a fully copper custom host Sinner is building me.

PS-I will be using Panasonic 3400mAh Cells.
