Wee, my first burning vid. Like others stated before me, burning stuff with this laser is child's play. 8-)

petro, VERY GOOD video QUALITY!!! even sound is good...

nice job, i lit 14 matches with my dilda so far :P

Nice, have you tried testing the farthest distance you can light them at?
BTW, my first and only laser vid is my avatar and I've burned a total of around 150 matches. ;D

I haven't really measured the exact distance yet but I'd say it can light matches from about 1,5 meters away. But conditions were not optimal because my hand shakes too much at longer distances in order to hold the laser spot on the match. I'll do another test with the laser and match fixed.

150 matches... impressive. I must say I bought a bulk package of matches in the local supermarket so I'm well stocked atm. ;)

You can do way more than 1.5 meters with that laser, try setting it down and focus it to something like 2 meters away to get started, then walk up there and place the match in front of the beam to light it. Then try focusing it farther away and see the max distance you can light the match at.

Supermarket??? Try going to the dollar store, I went there the other days and bought 2 packs of 250 matches for a buck. ;D
Also, try buying different kinds of matches, the first ones I used were paper matches and I could light them at a max of 13 feet, I was using a short open can diode and it was being driven at 200mA which according to the graph DL made for me, it was putting out 100mW. I also tried upping the current to 300mA (170mW according to the graph) and I was able to light a paper match at 18 feet. The matches I got form the dollar store are wooden matches and they're a bit harder to light, I had to turn the current up to 275mA just to light the match at 13 feet. So yeah, try buying different kinds of matches and see which ones you like best. I like the wooden ones I have better than the paper ones because it's a bit more challenging to light them, the paper ones were getting boring. ;D

Damn this was a long post. :o ::) ;D

@ xombie: thanks. Well this laser is a real bargain. If you want one I'd say order one at DX. You won't regret it. ;)

@ chido: yeah I was planning on doing an 'ultimate distance burning test'. The matches I got are made out of wood too. In fact, I doubt I can buy paper matches around here. Never spotted them. We'll see if I can match or improve your 13 feet. 8-)
