I got the cheap ass 200mW 532nm Green Laser Module (3V 11.9mm) from deal extreme
But can i run it on a 18650 batt ?
mine gives out 3.8 volt source , connected to a 3 watt led it's 3,6 volt pulling 600 mA

cuz i don't wanna blow up the laser

Need a link to exactly what you bought...
A fully charged 18650 3.6 volt battery will supply
4.2Volts... That is almost 50% higher than the
voltage that you should use...:undecided:

I have one (15mw one) that runs nice on a LiFePO4 batt, @ 3.6 until 3v. The Q3 gets pretty hot (untouchable in 30 seconds CW), tho. I pot modded it to see how long it last, @ double power the crystal got damaged.

sorry for the bump :)

That one looks like the ones sold in the past that was working with 3,6V ..... anyway, if you want to be totally sure, place a diode (or two in parallel, if one become too hot) in serie with the battery.

You'll have to tinker a bit, perhaps a schottkey diode would be about right at these currents.
