dvd burner to use

ok what would be a good one to get then. and just so i know what is wrong with lite drivers

Lite-on drives contain short open can diodes which aren't near as powerful as long open can diodes.
I recommend you get this drive, it contains a long open can diode.

i have a dvd recorder from my tv. can i uses that to get the LD. the tray is broke and i am getting a new one

You need a dvd burner, not a reader. Unless you want to make a <5mW laser.

Oh I'm sorry it's just that since you mentioned a TV I imagined you meant just a plain DVD player, and that's what a lot of new people are always asking. Guess I should have read CLOSER. ;D

So what speed does it burn DVDs at?

It can work but I have no idea what current to drive the diode at since I haven't seen people use 8x diodes before.
I saw a video on youtube once of a guy burning through a floppy disk with an 8x diode. He said it had put out 84mW max but he didn't say what current he was driving the diode at.

ok. i have the LD for free so i will play with it until i get the sony 20x dvd burner to play with. this will be a test run
