Drew asked me a short while ago if I would do a review on a few of his lasers.  I told him that I would and had him ship what he wanted me to review.  I'm not the type of person to hold back a punch if I see something wrong as it's an opportunity for us all to learn.  That in mind I will review each of these lasers in depth and report my findings.  They can be seen here:

Romisen RC-H3 Red laser:

The laser appears to be well built.  Utilizing a heatsink from I know not who.  The heatsink was designed for a flex drive and the drive is well mounted on to the diode and spring soldered onto the other end very well.  A bit of foam is wedged into the space between the drive and the side of the heatsink to prevent the drive from migrating.  The only thing personally I see that I would have done, is utilize a little thermal paste between the heatsink and module and heatsink and host to improve thermal transfer, but that's not all that important so won't count against in this review.  It did come with a cut down tailcap over the lens acting as a lens cap.

The laser operates on a 14500 Lithium Ion battery and is a nice tight fit.  Probably too tight as it makes it difficult to remove.  In order to remove the battery you have to remove both head and tail and push the battery from top or bottom.

Beam specs are irrelevant as this is a focusable module.  And battery power itself is also irrelevant as long as it's within operating voltage as the flexdrive continues to provide the same amount of power through out the entire time.

Power was read on the Kenometer and rated at 240mw  In a 1 minute test on power the laser dropped in power by 1mw

Overall I'd give this laser a 5 stars and recommend it to anyone. (depending on price)  Not bad output for this little sucker!

Kryton Red:

Clear anodized but not polished.  Inserts in place.  Acrylic aixiz lens.  Not a lot can be said that hasn't been said already about the Kryton laser barrels.  They are great hosts and have nothing to do with this review.  The build quality will be primarily reviewed.  This laser itself was operating on a flexdrive as well and takes an 18650 battery.

On the Kenometer this laser was right on with Drews laserbee at 290mw.

The build quality is very tight with solder joints being nice and small and not cold.  Overall I give this also a very nice build rating of 5 Stars.

Kryton Bluray (phr):

This is a PHR-803t in a Kryton groove laser barrel.  It looks as if it's been sanded to try to reduce the machine marks down and once it was seen that it could not be done, was left this way.  (I personally would have sent this to Dark_Horse to have him strip it and polish it and re-anodize it)

The flex drive inside this one same as the red Kryton, has been epoxied into place and is well soldered.  I would like to note that the red wire going from the case to the neg connection on the driver is pointless as all you have to do is solder the pin directly to the neg pin on the laser diode.

On the Kenometer this laser was rated at 122mw.  During the 1 minute I had it on it varied by 3mw.

Again overall I give it 5 stars.

All of these lasers are very good lasers and the build quality is VERY tight.  His asking price for all three of the lasers is vrey good and I highly recommend getting these if you havn't already got a high powered red and bluray.

1. the heatsink was made by dark horse
2. that is foam but its also ESD foam to keep any static away from the diode/driver.
3. the fit is so tight on the heatsink that you really dont need any thermal paste. otherwise i would have used arctic silver.
4. that will be remedied as soon as i get the laser back. i havent had time to do it yet.
5. both of the kryton barrells were exactly as i received them from you. the only thing i did was put the guts inside them...
6. the red wire is pointless but i think it makes it look good that way...just my personal preference...
;)

Big a** spring  :o what is that from ?
its a spring from the clickies like the ones kenom sent with the kits. its the perfect size to use with a lava drive so you dont even have to cut it down any.

cool know i no what to use for my other 2 krytons 8-)

EDIT: nice review i should send him some of my work to have checked ;)
