DIY laserpod/Star laser?

First off im new to all this but I just know $200 buck for a laserpod supernova is insanely overpriced, I like the randomness it has. (YouTube - Laserpod Supernova, lighting effects, findmeagift.com) at 0:35 is a key effect I would love for the project to achieve.

BUT I also want one of those Star lasers, because it seems very calming and i really like how the stars slowly move.. and the cloud is beautiful to (YouTube - Laser Stars in my room :)).

Now heres where you guys come in. Im wondering is it even possible to achieve all these effects in a single build? If so how hard would it be for someone who has no experience in building anything except piecing together a computer. And about how much would you guys think it would cost?

Even if its not possible to get all these effects in one build im sure I can make em separately for why cheaper then the retail value.

Any comments, suggestions, opinions are welcome.

I may be able to help you build something like this, as I own two of these

These use two diffaraction gratings, which should be 13,500 lines per inch. The inner (inner referring to the one closer to the laser) rotates very slowly, then about 3/4 of a CM in front of it there is another diffraction grating which does not rotate. My laser's inner diffraction grating is about 1 inch in diameter and has a motor mounted in the center. That outputs from a 1/2 inch hole which passes through the main enclosure which then has a "lens" which is a not moving diffraction grating

These can be built very cheaply, and if you buy a sheet of diffraction grating, I would play around with 3 layers of diffraction grating, and see what effects that produces. Also the link I included for the laser I have has a video at the bottom. I would recommend watching that to see what kind of effects making a laser like this will produce

I will get back to you on the blue cloud. I did this on accident the other day

From what I see in the video, that projector doesn't produce the effects im after. Then again im new to all this and maybe with some simple tweaking it could...? YouTube - Laser Stars Video
The stars are slowly moving in random directions. and appear to be behind the cloud.

Its definitely a LED. I have this at home and there is another thread about it somewhere here.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I registered with this site so I could try and find out how to make a laserpod supernova. KGB_Productions, you mentioned that there is another thread about this topic? I haven't been able to find it. Is it known by a different name?

And Lawlgen, did you figure out how to make the laserpod?
