Does anyone know what diode could pop a balloon from the furthest distance. Would a 7875 be best or is there something better?

I agree with the BDR-209, clean beam profile, single mode and excellent divergence. Surprising how it burns nearly as good as a 4.5W 465nm.
The other option is to beam expand a NUBM44, but I don't know how effective this is yet.

Hi,
I have an M462 in a Sinner Cypreus host with a BE , it burns at 32 feet and further..

Without expansion, a bdr 209 is gonna have the tightest spot which means more concentrated power.

Definitely a BDR-209. With a three element lens its divergence is ridiculously good. Even with a G2 I was able to pop a line of 53 balloons easily. And right now I'm planning a video of using it to pop 100+ balloons.

Hi Sta,
Did the tv executives urge you to do part 2?

Unless you are prepared to do some beam correction and use a beam expander, the 405nm laser diodes are the best as they are both single mode diodes and even with a G2 lens keeps a tight beam for quite a long distance.

Thanks for the suggestions guys... I did have a bdr209 but the switch went out after like 2 days and I ended up upgrading it to something else instead of just fixing it... I have had my eye on a 7875 for a while as well too.. Looks like I will getting the 7875 and also getting another bdr209 as well.. They are both relatively cheap so I'll just get both : )

Hi Yoshi,
I have several 7875's, I love them. They are multi mode but have better divergence than most. A g2 lens works pretty good in em. They burn really good because they focus down pretty small compaired to the nubm 44

Yes I know lol.. My nubm44 has the worst divergence of any laser I own... But man at point blank range it is a monster... I'll get a 7875 but I'll probably go single mode. I will also get the 405. More lasers is never a bad thing.
