Deceptive marketing alert

Like most people who are into lasers (professionaly or otherwise) I occasionaly Google the word "laser" just to see what comes up. After a little clicking around the other day I found what appeared to be a laser review site or message board under construction at www.digglaser.com

From the website's address, you might assume that this site has something to do with digg.com, which it does not. You may also assume, after reading a little of the site, that this is a place for reviews of products and since no manufacturer or retailer is really mentioned outside of the "review" content you may figure that this is supposedly unbiased and will include reviews from various companies and sources. This would be a big mistake.

Although there is no mention of ANY laser company on the site, if you run a quick whois search you will find that the register of the domain is...

*dramatic pause*

... li.zhe@wickedlasers.com (but you guessed that already, right?)

Just goes to show, you can't trust reviews if you don't know the reviewer. "Hooray" for unbiased forums like LPF and CPF which actually allow people to voice an opinion and post honest reviews of products. Why should a company hide the source of their reviews unless they had something to hide about the product? I love it when I see a Hercules-related post on LPF because I know that the Hercules lasers that we ship out are quality products, I'm never afraid to read a review of a Laserglow product since I know that it will usually be positive, since we take the time to test and ship good quality lasers. And hey, even if a post IS negative it actually HELPS us in the long run, because now we know how we can work to improve our products and service to make Laserglow a better place to shop. Censorship and deception will work for a while, but listening to your customers' concerns and providing a superior product enables a business to truly flourish. Thank you, Wickedlasers, for continuing to set the bar even lower for honesty and ethics in the laser business. It just makes the rest of us look better in comparison!

Looks like the entire site is down, they must be changing things to look less wicked affiliated XD

I bet the host information will change too.

I searched whois, it gave me this message "Maximum Daily connection limit reached", must be some really shit*y hosting company.

Here's something interesting: Go to the article about military lasers and scroll to the bottom where it lists the e-zzine source. Click on that and view the article and find out that it was provided by none other than Dragon Lasers!

I guess I kinda missed something - "Techlasers" is owned and operated by Wicked ? I thought they said that CNI lasers were crap ? LOL !!! And then they violate international copyright laws by stating at the bottom of the page that their G-532 laser is also known as the "Hulk", "Aries", and the "PGL-III" WOW....

Justin - sic em man ! ;)

Yep, its very clear that Laserglow is CNI's official distributor... or at least that's what CNI tells me!

Something fishy about the prices per mW there. I didn't realize PGL-III greens came in 500mW, and I have trouble believing that. Also, they state their 594nm laser is 2mW, but CNI doesn't make yellow pens that high as far as I know (the real model is 0.5-2mW IIRC). Looks like a dragonlasers scam on steroids.

One more peice of weirdness to add: Many of the articles on digglaser.com are sourced from ezinearticles.com and written by "Jim Bradley". Reading Mr. Bradley's articles on ezinearticles.com, you will notice that every single article ends with a plug for Thinklasers. This is quite a web of intrigue and misinformation that has been woven here... Shell companies and phony websites are popping up all over the place and they all lead back to Wickedlasers. How does Wicked have the time for all this??

... I would be surprised if "Jim Bradley" even exists.

EDIT: Tracking down Jim Bradley (or at least his picture) turned out to be easy. According to Mr. Bradley, I should be working at home making thousands of dollars a day doing data entry! I could buy a plane! Tell me if you've heard this one before: http://www.supermoneymakingsecrets.com

Wow, super scammy.

Justin - I do not know about Jim Bradley, but do some digging into Colin Merry seom time...he is a TOTAL Tommy Green ! A complete piece of work that guy is...I mean if I EVER ran into that putz on the streets, I would wrap my cane around his head before he even got "HELLO" out of his mouth - and I am NOT a violent person (honest, I am not !!!) Scammers really push my buttons though - almost to the point of fanatical protection for my fellow forum members - that kinda stuff pisses me off REALLY fast.

It is probably just my naivete and newness to this business, but if we all think Wicked are so wicked (and I am not disagreeing), then why does our fearless and esteemed moderator (and I am not being facetious) have an ad for Wicked in his signature???
