First off let me say this is my first review so any criticism or how I could improve it is welcome, please let me know if there is anything you would like me to add/change.
So let me start off with my short story. I decided to build my 3rd PHR because they all broke because of small stupid things. When I came across DarkArmyofOne's new website where he happened to have one 6x sled left. I snatched it up and had plans for putting it in the good old MDXL. I then got thinking, maybe it would be nice to have 2 since I already ordered a PHR from Ken @ HighTechDealz. So I asked Dark if he had any really smalls hosts I could put my PHR in. As time progressed that night I decided it would be really bad ass to have a small 6x. I asked him for the smallest host he had, I have seen smaller but this is just a good overall respectable size for a laser. The Pailide host. We talked over about a week and decided what would be good and all that and I ended up getting the 6x.
Small seller review of DarkArmyofOne:
Great guy, really friendly, prompt service, he will get back to your PMs usually right away. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants a high quality build, whether you are sending in stuff for the laser build service or he is making you the whole shebang he is definitely the guy to do it.
Note: Shipping was a bit slow but I live in Canada and he was away so he couldn't ship it right away.
Build Quality: Excellent, one word to describe it. The host is a Pailide and it's awesome, nice and small first off. The design on it's nice and I really like the look of the head. It's light weight but still feels solid for it's size. A plus is it's really easy to take apart quickly if you need to, it takes around 10-20 seconds(I counted). It's black, my favorite color/colour for a laser host(yes, Canadian here)The heat sink in it is great, it's small but really gets the job done right. A side note though is that you should be careful when taking it apart, I had to re solder one of the wires to the driver from the diode and one from the battery connector to the driver. If you have no soldering experience and are not good with electronics I suggest not taking it apart and sending it back for repair. Dark won't charge you much for that anyways.
Packaging: It comes in a little black box comparable to that of a DX laser. Everything fits well and there it lots of foam padding. Included in the packaging is the laser(duh), a protected 14500 900mAh battery and a key chain attachment.
Power: It measures 248mw at 191mA with jayrob glass(added by me) and boy does it burn. Pick any color/colour and it will burn it. White, brown, red, green, yellow, blue, purple, black. If you point it somewhere close it will most likely start burning it right away. It stings the skin like a mofo. I have not had a chance to light any matches but it will do it without question and doubt.
Price: I payed between 200-250$ total for this build, a respectable price for a high quality 6x.
Beam: The beam is killer, you can see it in a well lit room and at night it looks nice and mysterious.
The 405nm wavelength: This wavelength is very mysterious if you have never seen it in person before, it is nearly impossible to focus it perfectly in a dark room because it looks like a fuzzy blur to the human eye around the actual dot. It is also nothing like a green where you can point it up at the ceiling and use it as a flashlight. 532nm makes the room light up. 405nm makes the room an eerie purple with some things fluorescing. You will also discover what things are fluorescent by pointing it around.
Anger: I accidentally deleted the original and possibly better review when I closed the tab in firefox.
Pictures: Ok the camera sucks and my parents dropped the good one we had in Spain, I will upload better pictures when it is repaired. I re sized the pictures because they looked really bad. There was no smoke, fog, or steam used in any of the pictures.
The box:
Inside the Box:
The clicky tail switch:
Jayrob glass and Pailide head:
Taken apart:
Laser in my hand:
And now what you have all been waiting for, BEAMS!!!:
Lights on above laser, other lights off, bright outside:
All lights on, bright outside:
Beam down the stairs, apparently my camera thinks it's 473nm:
Fish Tank, light on, then off, no fish were harmed during the making of these shots, there is only one fish and he hides:
Overall I highly recommend DarkArmyofOne and Dark Lasers, it's a great laser and the battery lasts forever by the way. Forgot to mention that. Dark has what you want and need to satisfy laser addiction.
Build Quality: 10/10
Price:10/10
Packaging:10/10
Compared to my other lasers: 10/10
Power for 6x: 10/10
Seller:10/10
Cool factor: 10/10
I will upload some outdoor shots tonight at like 1am to make sure it's nice and dark. These should be better
