Ok so here goes..

I attempted to build one of these a few years ago in a Tr-801 host but killed a driver & 2 diodes in the process. Life got in the way for a year or so, so I decided to try again.

The host is a Cree Q5 from DX HERE

Here are a few "Before" pics

The Heatsink was from Eudaimonium Here

Here is a breakdown of all the parts from left to right

Focus adapter with lens, The crown, LD Module, M-140 Diode, Heatsink and Host Body (parts from Cajun Laser)

The driver is an X-drive mini

I pressed the diode into the module using a diode press and soldered on the wires (The famous Flamingpyro wires) and used heatshrink to avoid and shorts

The wires were threaded through the pill and soldered on to the driver.
The driver was thermally adhered to the pill as well

And it all put together

And now for the all important beam shots :eg:

Glad the 'sink is working out for you man.

That looks like mighty fine laser. A lot of power in small host!

How long does the battery last, on average?

I'm not sure, I can't use my laser allot because i live under a flight path :(

but i've used it on and off for roughly an hour on a single charge using 2 Trustfire 16430's

That sounds good. It's a buck driver, right?

Runtime would probably be horrible with a boost driver and single lithium ion.

BTW, try using 2x 18350 - they're not too expensive and runtime is noticeably longer than 16340 variants.

Wanted to give you rep but says I must spread some around, damn.

Ha Ha, no worries, yeah, might get some and use these as backups and yes it's a buck drive :)
