So, lately I've been thinking about using my useless Intel stock cooler to cool a laser diode, something like a PLTB450B at 1.25A. My plan is to flatten the diode module on one side, and use thermal adhesive between the flattened side and the cooler. Would this be a good idea? And considering that the heat output of the laser diode would be over 10x lower than the TDP of a low-end CPU, would not turning on the fan allow for a good duty cycle?
