Ok, my dichro finally got delivered yesterday. It works well, reflecting around 89% of green 532nm and passing 95% of red 650nm.

I tried setting it up with my red home built scanner and using my green pointer to combine the beams as my green module has only just been sent. I now see how hard this is going to be to align, with the setup I had it was hard to get the angles right and best I could do was a red pattern with a green pattern about 1 inch next to it.

So how exactly could I line them all up when my module comes? I am thinking turning on my smoke machine and using a protractor to get the 45 degree angles...

the first time i did it, i was in such a rush i fannied around and it took for about an hour.

when i next did it, i did it properly, i build adjustable mounts and it took 5 mins to align.

you learn from you mistakes.

Yeah I read those, I guess lining them up is really more trial and error. I guess when I get a nice yellow or orange beam I will know.

well do as the guide says and you cant go wrong.

you want the beams to hit each other at the dichro and staying toughing at distance.

what adjustable mount you using?

Ok, cool. Thanks!

Will give it a try over the weekend. Why are the springs needed though?

errr hard to explain, they just are.

the dichro will just flop around without the springs pushing it outwards

Ah yeah, I see.

There is another way of doing it but you will need more bolts to do it.

Just had a thought...

The beam diameter of my 100mw red is about 4 - 5mm big does it matter if the green diameter is a lot smaller than the red?

it does matter yes but sadly its normal. red beams are always much bigger than green or blue.

nothing you can do

this is how im going to do my new RGB scanner.

when the laser first hit the mirror (black line) these are adjustable so i can get the height right when they hit the dichro. each dichro is also adjustable
