I was wondering if I had lost my marbles:crackup:but I finally found them today. Thanks COCONUTS. Exactly what I was expecting and well packaged.
Please don't anyone else PM me asking me to sell, if I were to sell any it would only be to the first person that PM'd me, and I am not enthusiastic about selling any just now. I also don't build and sell lasers either so please don't PM me about that either, have had a couple of those.
If no one who bought these is selling them in small amounts, if anyone wants I can post a couple of links where you can buy uranium marbles. The thing is it looks like the only ones available are the yellow custard/Vaseline glass type, these green ones aren't made anymore and I read that the yellow ones aren't either so they will eventually be unavailable in the near future.
I was speaking of the link Pi R Squared might be referring to. Some of the ones on eBay are garbage and are a milky color that reflects the beam. COCONUTS are of the best quality. Im sorry for the misunderstanding.
I think those are the only kind you can get now, and even those apparently aren't being made anymore. Here are two links for those who want to buy some, these ones from United Nuclear claim to be 3% uranium and come with a certificate of measured radiation, the 5/8" are 3 for $10: Radioactive Uranium Doped Marbles, Small : United Nuclear , Scientific Equipment & Supplies
And the 1" are 2 for $12: Radioactive Uranium Doped Marbles, Large : United Nuclear , Scientific Equipment & Supplies
Another place many of us here buy stuff from has some 1" marbles for only $1.25 each! It says nothing about the quality and with the price being so low I suspect they are not from the same source: 1" Uranium "Custard" Vaseline Glass Marble - Laser Components - Laser Components & Tools
It doesn't say how many of them they have in stock, if you want to buy very many I would ask them first.
If there are any of the clear green glass type out there you will have to find it on your own, buy them while you can, supposedly no glass makers are making uranium glass anymore.
I purchased some of those milky ones before I found these and they don't even come close to the clear green ones I sold everyone here last week. They were crap. I purchased from about 10 ebay sellers in small quantities and sizes and never got any like I just sold here.
When I was selling these years ago here I was charging $1 for small and $5 each for the 1". I also packaged 5 of the small marbles along with one of those AAA over speck 405 pens for $17-$23 + $3 for PP fee's and first class shipping. I sold about 75 of those package deals here and on e-bay in about 6 months. They were real popular with no disappointments from anyone.
I had about 100 or so decorative uranium pieces like bowls, candlestick holders, plates and other artsy pieces at one time. I'm sorry I sold all those:yabbem:
I have a ball jar with what I kept up on my kitchen cabinet shelf with my antique bottle collection and one cheap 405 pen that I let my grandson light them up when he comes. I still love the glow especially in the dark. He thinks lasers are cool at 8 years old!
I also built my grandson a 4 motor 532nm 50mw Green Spiro graph with each motor having its own potentiometer for his bedroom. It has 4 motor mirror controls, runs on a 5 volt AC wart and gives of millions of unbelievable patterns. It has a on/off switch with the cover like in a fighter plane and is Very Cool! I got the inspiration for it from Flaminpyros cool builds. He helped me source the parts I needed. I used epoxy to mount all the components in a clear 4x5x8 project box and a high end glass clear round window for the beam to go through. My grandson still loves it 3 years later and runs it on his white bedroom wall before bedtime with my son.
