does anyone have some ideas of how to make the the cheapest and easiest laser scanner with household objects??

I don't think you can do a "scanner." You could make a spirograph.

You certainly couldn't do a scanner with household objects, lol

But a spirograph wouldn't be too bad. You just need to find some motors and some mirrors. Then somewhere to mount them and you'd be set :)

I've made a quick spiro out of my computer before. Just took out 2 92mm fan's, put mirrors on the centre, held everything down with blutac and lined it all up:

fan|-------<-<-Laser
\
    ---| fan
Quick diagram, hope it helps.

BTW, you'd need a fan controller on the computer to change patterns etc..
