I'm not sure if this has been posted before but this has got to be the most ridiculously dangerous device I've seen in a long time. From the description I assume it is made from the 24 blue diodes from the casio projectors, so 24 watts total power coming out of this thing reflecting dangerously close to people who are not wearing goggles sweeping across what seems to be a ship carrying passengers.



Right at 1:00 looks like a beam reflection of that rail could have come very close to hitting either of them right in the face.

That's been around for a few months, but yes I also question the safety practices at work there.. 24+ watts beamed directly at people is pretty stupid IMO.

He shines it at a building too.
 
Looks like a beam they would use at a Trans-Siberian Orchestra type concert....These guys are playing with it stupidly tho for sure!

Yeah, i know i know but for this time i just need the 24W array connected to a portable bat. for integration in antique portable case,...:D

That video was made in Bratislava. There is a member on LPF from Slovakia. Is he also from Bratislava? :)
 
While I've seen it before, I still find the speed of that 24W head scary.
Of course that dosen't mean I don't want one too.
Can't help but think of a RF excited CO2 sweeping around at that speed. Glad they didn't create a tighter beam.
 
Its a pretty powerful laser, but also a very fat beam. In fact, i think i've seen non-laser based spotlights with comparable beam diameters used in disco shows and such. Those often have a few 100 watts of halogen lamp installed, and that means they will produce 24 watts of (white) light too... but i suppose looking into those is dangerous too, noone cares since its not a laser ;)

As for sweeping the building: The projected 'dot' looks in the order of 10 to 20 meter diameter. If the light is gaussian divided over that area people in the building would not be at much risk, though it would be very annoying...
