Buying 100mW Laser

I'm pretty new, I just want a laser to have fun with, pop balloons etc.... My budget at the moment is $17.80, I'm wondering if this is enough?

from what i've heard, you shouldn't expect very much quality from this laser though... you get what you pay for.

It doesn't really have to be 100 mW, I'm just looking for something to have a little fun with.. Is 50mW enough to pop balloons?
Ah and the reason my budget is so odd is because that's the amount left in my paypal.

You can get a very over spec 5mw 405nm laser on ebay for around ~$10, mine with a lens can light matches and pop balloons. Ebay seller: itemquickship

Or even better, since this is a DIY forum, you could buy a kit and assemble your own laser. There is a 100mW red kit in my sig.
(I am not sure about currency exchange rates)

Well, 14.99 Pounds = $24 :/ Plus, is it hard to put together?

This would be the most intersting deal for your buck. You would be able to do cool fluorescing effects, make a nice beam in fog/steam (bath), would be able to pop a balloon (with the lense) and if you´re lucky and get a very overspec one, you would be able to light a match in combination with the magnifying glas!

For sure! here is a vid of a 60mW 405nm laser which is able to burn a match in 1sec if the magnifying lense is focused right!

Depends, not if you have a soldering iron and know how to use it.
(The 2 cr2 batteries required is not included)
