budgetgadgets laser

Cheap chinese lasers are rarely up to spec. Figure on the actual 532nm output being half or less of the stated power, and the rest being IR.

If you want a good, up to spec, and reliable laser, buy one from a reliable vendor. Yes they'll cost more, but you'll actually get what your paying for.

I have one of these rated at 200 mW. After warming up, it outputs 200 mW, but about 70-71 mW is IR. So it burns like 200 mW but is as bright as about 130 mW of 532 nM.

Edit: Oh, and the 5 min duty cycle is about right. The focusing ring is very convenient. I have used this laser for doing wood engraving (with goggles of course) and it's small size and long duty cycle make it one of my favorite portable lasers. IMHO it's a good deal, of course other units may not be as good as the one I got, but I also have one of their red 200 mW units, and it is up to spec as well.

The second video in the link below shows it's performance (along with IR):

I'm not sure. Can anyone of you suggest me a good 100mw green laser pointer for under 50$ ?

Check out o-like.com they have the cheapest lasers you can buy without suffering to bad of quality.

BudgetGadgets Green lasers are not reliable with power output. You could buy something that says 200mW and it's actually outputting 80mW. In which case you're getting ripped off. If you want a burning laser, the $40 budgetgadgets 200mW red one is the only option. If you want a green one for the beam. Be prepared to shell out $200 at o-like. I just bought their 400mW from them for that price. It spikes at 550mW. Theres the difference.

I actually have the 200mW red focusable one from BG, and it's very good, pops balloons and burns black plastic and shit. But you can't see the beam even in the dark. my 50mW green shows up way better lol and its 1/4 the power.

Once again though, I can't tell if my 200mW laser is actually 200mW other than reviews on this forum.

Burning: IR light doesn't matter cause you're only using it to burn stuff.

Light shows: IR is bad cause funnily enough the human eye can't see it. You want as much laser radiation in the colour you're buying.

So yeah,

Burning: 200mW budgetgadgets red (cheap and effective)
Green: always buy from o-like, they are a very reputable website. (check reviews on here before buying ANYTHING)

Seriously 50mW o-like is far more stable. Takes AAAs too which is nice, doesn't cost too much more either. I don't understand why you'd shy away from a reputable company because their prices are slightly above average. There is a reason for this. You get what you pay for, especially with laser pointers. Get the o-like 200mW! Much nicer. On the other hand, get the 1W blue one, (tested 700mW). only $180 lol.

200mW green: 200mW transformable green laser/adjustable [OLV6200] - $122.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

50mW green: 50mW 6 in1 green laser pointer [OLGL6-1] - $28.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

200mW red: New Style red laser 200mW /adjustable [OLNRL200] - $45.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products (Same one as on budget gadgets but CHEAPER. This proves that they only sell good lasers, I own this one.)

1W blue: 1W 445nm blue Laser torch/waterproof/focusable [OL445T-1W] - $189.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

400mW green: 400mW green laser torch /focusable/waterproof [OL-532-350] - $196.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

No brainer, the 200mW one actually outputs at 200mW. You won't need another green laser for some time after that one. I own both the 200mW red and the 400mW green so I can vouch for them personally.

Again remember: :eg:Red is for Burning:eg:, :can:Green is for Beams:can:.

I don't want to invest so much money for a laser.
I want one with tailcap clicky and focus.

can you please tell which of these two to choose and don't suggest other ones ? ;)

As hybridkitty says, the cheaper laserpointers are not worth the money. They are very rarely up to spec. Try looking at Rayfoss.com too as there pointers are upto spec (most of the time) you will thank us in the long run if you decide to get a slighty more expensive laser. It will be worth it :)

My honest opinion. Neither of those you have listed are worth any attention. The cheapest tailclick focus one is the 200mW red one I've already listed for around $40. If you go cheaper than that. It won't be up to spec and it will not do anything you want it to. Basically within my experience I'm saying the two you have mentioned are not worth buying. :tsk:

Also how do you expect me to make a decision for you when you haven't told me what you're going to use it for? Burning, presentation or beams?

If it's beams. You won't get one for less than $100.
Presentation. You can get a $10 pos from ebay.
Burning. The red one I've listed.

I honestly have given you everything you need to go out and buy a laser without even needing to browse the forums. If you browsed them on top of this, I'm sure you could find a happy medium between what you're willing to pay and functionality. I however am not about to troll for hours to work this out for you. I've already invested about 20-30 mins of my time lol.

Good luck buying your laser buddy, hope you get what you're looking for.

Actually if you want burning, go with 405nm. It's not as easily absorbed by a lot of things like red and IR are. Therefor it it doesn't take as much power to burn say, white paper, with 445 and 405 as it does with 600nm+.
