Maybe we will see some improvement in handheld laser technology soon-ish

He describes [press release], "The new laser diodes represent a sharp departure from past commercial devices in how they are made. The new devices show almost no change in operation under stress conditions that cause commercial devices to rapidly fail."

soon-ish is what everybody says when they've got something new. If it really is something as good as they claim it will probably take at least 10 years to become mainstream. Would be nice if it went faster though.

If the wavelength is more monochromatic as stated, green lasers could become much more efficient with the use of better 808nm pump diodes
