Hello everyone,
I am looknig to buy a new 532 laser and want to know what the beam will be like for different mw. I currently have a superbeast ebay pointer from ItemQuickShip and would guess it to be ~80mw as it is very bright even in well lit room. I want to buy another green laser and i was wondering how much brighter a 200mw would be and also a 400mw. How much of a difference will there be between a 400 and 200mw green when comparing the beams? is it worth the extra $140 or so? I'm planning on buying from Lazerer. Thanks

Roughly guessed you can extract a root from the multiplier of 2 laserpowers to get the gain in brightness ;)

So a 4times stronger laser appears to be about twice as bright for me

^^^that calculator is not correct
try searching a bit on internet and you will see that to achive 2 times brighter laser you will need 4 times power
e.g. 400mw laser would be twice as much brightness as the 100mw laser.

Yeah that calculator doesn't work that well it simply multiples to find a value. it is just saying 80mw x 5 = 400mw and therefore 5x brighter which is very inaccurate. Oh well. Does anyone think i should go for the 400mw over 200 for an extra $140?

I'd recommend you the 200mw. Often the cheaper higher powered greens also have a bigger beam... A thinner seems brighter though

well, if you are the power hungry type, then go for the 400
because if you arent satisfied with "just" 200mw, soon you will sell (or keep) the 200 and get the 400 anyways

that is IF you are that type ;)
