Anyone know what this is about? (Ebay)

this is a supposed 30-45mW 535nm laser with NO DRIVER. They're claiming the duty cycle is 2 hours on 15 minutes off. I somehow can't see that possible with no drivers.
Anyone know anything that I am just missing?

This is the message I got when I inquired about what driver they used
"hi
.
this laser do not need any driver. it has a crystal and turn the 808nm laser to 532nm laser. you can directly add the power on it and let it work.
hope my answer is helpful. if you have any question please feel free to let me know
with best regards
Merry"

It should have an inbuilt driver like all other DPSS greens. I think the seller means it does not need an external/additional driver.

thank ya both for the info.
I've been meaning to buy an nice LPM from ya one of these days Bee.
Just need to get a few financial things in check before I invest.

Whenever you are ready your LaserBee will be waiting
for you....

It will reach a stable temperature LONG before two hours. If you can run it for 2 hours, you can run it forever.

All my stage lighting lasers with those modular ends on them plug into a driver board in the lighting unit itself with an opposing connector... If it was meant to go right to power you would think it would have a battery connection or bare wires not a molded jack...

I agree. I doubt it has a driver. And it's not a good price either way. Even if it did have a driver, there would be no TTL capability, making it useless for light show use. And if it's not for light show use, why bother getting a lab style laser versus a pointer?

Edit: They say the working voltage is 1.9VDC. So therefore, it definitely DOES NOT have a driver.

I have no idea what show lasers go for but the main reason to want something like that is for the duty cycle... Though I don't agree that it's useless for show use... there are A LOT of projectors that are TTL RGB.. It's doesn't make them useless, just less fancy...

Sorry, I meant that there is only two wires coming out, so even if it did have a driver, then it probably didn't have TTL capability. I understand unlimited duty cycle though.

You got it backwards :)

TTL = ON / OFF = Less good
Analogue = variable power output..

I have a projector with TTL lasers in it... It was super cheap and it works just fine. I only get 7 colors though. Still enough for most things.

I understand completely what TTL is vs. Analogue. I think we are just having miscommunication problems. There is no point in discussing it further, since this laser simply does not have a driver.

But, to try a last time to make it clear what I meant was that: even if it did have a built in driver, the fact that only two wires are coming out would mean that the driver is most likely not capable of TTL modulation (and definitely not analogue modulation), or else it would have three wires coming out, not two. But again, it does not matter, because it does not have a built in driver (or else the specs are wrong by saying it is 1.9VDC drop with 300mA current draw.

Sounds a bit fishy to me, especially the part about 2 hours on and 15 min off

I think no amount of heatsink will make a duty cycle that long.
