Anyone here interested telling me how my RPL works?

As the threadtitle says, I got an used RPL today, it is 2 years old. I don´t have the paper describing how it works. I took a pic from what I have, but don´t know how to adjust the tailcap correctly to get full power.

I´m also interested in polishing it or at least cleaning it to make it shiny again. Maybe you know what are the best chemicals to do that.

Thanks in advance!

I don't have one with the locking tail cap, only the one with the "screw hole". Anyway, putting on that cap, one turns the screw clock-wise to "arm" the laser. As you turn the screw in the cap, you will feel positions where the screw wants to stop. Those locations represent different currents to the pump diode. Each succeeding position represents more current. Usually positions 4 or 5 give the current amount for maximum 532 nM power. Further positions may give more IR but less 532 nM from the crystal set.

The screw can be turned with the laser "on" (sideswitch) also (to change settings). I asked Jack about that a few weeks ago. Just don't turn the screw all the way around to switch the laser off. I usually switch the laser on after setting the screw, though.

Procedure to turn laser on:

1. Set current to desired level with end screw.
2. Open shutter at front.
3. Turn laser "on" with side switch.

To turn off, reverse above.

Hope that helps.
