As I said in the title, I know there are a bunch of reviews out there for this laser, but since it is my first laser, I wanted to review it myself.

The laser is a great laser overall, I don't have an LPM, and I have no other lasers to compare it to, but it is probably around 400mW since it burns everything in sight. It even blackens white paper in a matter of seconds. It burns the best when focused anywhere within 40cm of the host, and at more than 75ft it the focus-ability ends.
People constantly say that blu-ray is not very bright, but when I shine it at a white object near me, I can see through the gap at the bottom of my glasses that the entire room is being brightened (maybe I'm just naive, would 400mW of 532 blow my socks off?).
the host looks amazing:very angular and made of a dark colored metal. all the threading works perfect, and I am very impressed. Some people complain about the heat sinking, but I tend to use it for 2-3 min at a time and it doesn't get hot.
O-Like shipped it in 15 days (not terrible for China to USA) and no customs issues.

Over all, it is a very great laser for beginners like me who want to pick up lasers as their hobby or just burn stuff.

Yep with fluorescent objects the color changes also into bright blue that's the fun about 405 nm :D

Looks really nice, I've always had good experiences with O-Like.
I love my 405's, especially their ability to fluoresce objects.
And yup, 400mW of 532nm would definitely blow your socks right off.
Your shoes too.

I had their last style 400mw 405, the "cute" or whatever. It was my first real laser too. Glad to hear O-Like is still putting out good stuff!

I used mine to light a LOT of fireworks. Just throwing that idea out there.

Something I have found impressive is to use a 405 on glow-in-the-dark Aaron's Thinking Putty. It works ok on blue and orange but the green goes nuts when you hit it. I have a CHEAP $8 eBay special that lights the putty up so bright you can see it glowing in daylight. I want a higher power 405 now.

A higher power 405 won't really charge it up any more. The initial glow while the beam is on it will be brighter, simply because there's more light to reflect, but it probably wouldn't do much to make it glow brighter beyond de-focusing it and hitting MORE of the putty at once.

Over all, it is a very great laser for beginners like me who want to pick up lasers as their hobby or just burn stuff.

405nm is a rather interesting laser spectra in that our eyes are not particularly sensitive to it. We can observe a fuzzy out of focus dot when it is focussed on a white surface.
I'd be very careful with the run times. 1minute absolute max is all I would do then let the pointer cool down for 2-3 minutes before running it again (personally). You may not be able to feel the heat on the heat sink but there is a delay from when the heat of the diode is transferred to the outside of the sink. (remember this is an Aluminum/ Mg/Al sink and they aren't particularly conductive like copper ~comparatively speaking)

DO NOT RUN IT OVER 1 MINUTE! USE THE DUTY CYCLE RULE.

I'd also bet that the laser is running just below the rating, I too have an older 400mW 405 from O-like and it's most definitely running under 350mW ~323mW average. (peak 350mW) Tested with a University Coherent-LPM this past summer.

I agree Midias in that 405nm (Bluray) is NOT a beginner laser due to the fact that there are additional eye/skin Hazards associated with this low a spectra.

Still no Luck. I focus it right but it just won't burn. Bought a Solar Force Battery and still wont burn.
