Adjustable Focus Or Not

so was planing on getting a LZCB - 532nm 100mW Focusable Green Laser Pointer but i really not to sure about the Adjustable Focus part. i guess im still don't know what is better for just pointing around the street at night and possibly doing some tricks like match lighting. my question is is it better to have a Adjustable Focus for pointing around or a non-Adjustable Focus and is it still possible to burn with a non adjustable focus 100mw greenie

You can still burn with a fixed focused green laser but not nearly as fast as a focusable green laser. A focusable 100mw green laser will be really bright at night and great for showing to friends or pointing out stars. Also if you have safety glasses and you focus your laser right it will be pretty good at burning to.

yeah thats right... also i would like to add that the beam of a focusable laser wont burn as fast (at infinite focus) because the beam is thicker from the apurture... personally, i always prefer focusable lasers because you are more in control of how the laser is handeled IMO and you can focus the beam to be thinner than a non focusable one (sometimes) which might alow it to burn better! . but thats just my preferance.:na:

truthfully it all depends on what you want it for and your style. if you want to burn then go with a focusable one. if you want a tight brighter beam go for a fixed beam. ... or you can get both :crackup:

Focusable = great burning but not as good a beam

Fixed = great beam but not as good a burner

EDIT: the pic as my avatar is my focusable laser and i think that beam is good enough for me (BTW its 300+mw though)

would you need to wear goggles when using a 100mw greenie outside

i think the only reasonable time for not wearing goggles while operating a laser >5mw is if its being pointed toward the sky and distant trees and grass\dirt. and even then, be VERY cautious of aircrafts and still be VERY careful you dont shine it on ANY reflective surface or accidentally look into the beam if you hold the laser below eye level. :beer: as a matter of fact i dont recommend pointing at land objects or pointing from below eye level (just to be safe)
