There's a clear difference in the color of those A140s and other blue diodes. The A's seem to be true 445nm and the M140s are 450nm, as is evident when comparing them to PLT450B diodes.
Indigo is my favorite color. I really want some true 445nm diodes so I can preserve the wavelength for the future. I don't have $300 for a whole XJA140 projector though. DTR says it's hard for him to come across any A types anymore. I'm afraid I'll never have any more indigo lasers if I can't find any now
Offers?

This thread has turned into a preliminary selling thread for brand new A140 diodes. The estimated arrival date is 16 September. If you would like to reserve one, state the quantity and I'll PM you when I test the diodes. $25ea+shipping ($2.54 US / 6.39USD International). They'll be shipped in antistatic bags (shielding type) cushioned by regular foam on the outside, inside of paper bubble mailers.

Re: WTB: A140/A-type 140 Laser Diodes

i bought a diode from an ebay 2 years ago and the laser only put out 1.2 watts or so, also the beam look kinda violet next to my M-140 2 watts blue.....
i don't know if that what you after.( i think that might be a-140 as the back of the diode missing the m140 mark... even though that seller claim it was m-140.)

DTR has the PLTB450B diodes for 35 bucks, they are 445nm.

I have some old builds with A's in them but it wouldn't be worth tearing them apart for the price of the diode.

I would say the A's are <445nm. I have one or two builds still using A diodes and they are pretty darn purple compared to anything else. Wish I still had some laying around I could hook you up with :/

Re: WTB: A140/A-type 140 Laser Diodes

Hi,
DTR used to sell the 1.8W A type M140's i bought two just before he discontinued them. They are still sitting in with the rest of my diodes 8 in all and one 209 16x sled i didn't chop up yet. personally i like the PLTB450B's the efficiency is much better than i seen in all of the two diodes.

Thank you all for your input. I can get them for $30ea on ebay. This thread is just for offers if anyone has some they don't want. What I really want is to underdrive them to get like <440.
Alternatively, does anyone know if those old 2.5w 9mm Nichia diodes have the same characteristic? It's from the same time period

Do you mean the NDB7875 9mm 445nm that DTR still sells? I think they are typically more like 3W if they are driven at 2.2 - 2.4A, mine is a different shade of blue from my M140, a lighter shade of blue, but I have always wondered if it just looks that way because it's so much brighter, it is more like 3W or a little more, it's driven at 2.2A, I can't meter it properly with my LPM, my M140 is 1.5W, it could be much brighter partly because it's not 445nm like the M140 probably is, but my PLTB450B still looks slightly different from both of them, it looks more blue to me and is very bright at 1913mW. Of course every diode can vary a little, one of mine could be an abnormal diode.

Yeah, that one. If only we had more data on wavelength/current

Re: WTB: A140/A-type 140 Laser Diodes

Ok, last call for offers, if not I'm just gonna go ahead and drop the cash on ebay. I had built one in a very nice ebay host, but unfortunately the driver I had on hand wouldn't do any less than 0.7A. I'm planning to get a 0.2A driver for a new one in the same host

chinese ebay using a PLT450B on the left and my indigo A-type laser on the right. The indigo is actually a few notches more red in real life.
If you never had one, I highly recommend it

If you do, will you sell the extras?

Hmmm I would have to do $25/diode + shipping (2.54 inside CONUS; 7 international)
I never sold diodes before. Does that sound like a good deal? I'm just afraid to spend $300 and not get it all back. They would be used diodes with 4000hr runtime by the way

Buy bubble mailers from amazon and antistatic baggies. Don't use plastic bags or containers. Also, 4k hours is pretty high, especially considering you are selling them at double what you bought them for. I would reconsider that.
