In Australia laser pointers are already prohibited due to aircraft attacks. I am pursuing a permit so I can obtain laser pointers it is a bit of work but keeps the dickheads away from them.

I'm not against people owning high power lasers (or guns or drugs or whatever). As long as you're not harming anyone I don't care.

But companies selling over/under powered lasers... well I just think it's wrong. If you buy <5mW laser you do expect it to be safe and if you buy a 500mW laser you expect it to do the things lasers of that power do. And if people here can measure actual output power the only thing preventing companies from doing it is greed.
