9V battery charger?

Hey all,
I know that 9V batteries are not very useable for powering lasers, but I'm looking for a good quality 9V battery charger.

I've seen the 40$ giant bucket thing that energizer sells, and that seems very excessive. Anyone know of a good brand to buy this from?

9V cells are primary batteries which means they are not designed to be recharged. If you have a constant voltage and constant current variable bench DC supply you can set the current low (~50mA) and charge them up to 8.85V or so a few times if you keep an eye on them but the capacity drops by about half each time you charge them. It isn't a viable means of reuse, especially not for high drain loads like lasers. You're lucky if you can get 40mAh out of the first charge.

Sigurthr, what do you mean that I won't be able to recharge them?
 
Standard "9volt" batteries are alkaline batteries which are not rechargeable.
 
Right, I should have specified that I was talking about rechargeable Ni-MH batteries.

But why on EARTH are these so expensive in the US? Every charger I found on the page was around $50 or more, which is ludicrously expensive compared to what we can get them for here.

From what I can tell, they're probably made for the European market. Unless someone needs one to plug into a European style plug, they won't sell that well.
