If I had to guess, I'd say the "nano-pixel imaging chip" is a MEMS device similar to a DLP..

I learn so much from this LPF's members, and am still learning. So then would the laser be a single wavelength and used like a tv remote control to get info to the nano pixel imaging chip?

Not likely. I also would have to guess that that diagram is a bit simplified. I'd imagine the laser is a white-light source with high-speed color blending and blanking devices either built in or externally mounted.

not sure if this is the right thread to ask questions. So is that because white light is made up of all the wavelengths? and how would color "blending" work if there is only the white light coming in?

A white-light source in this context is basically an RGB laser in one box. By color blending, I mean high-speed analog modulation of the RGB lasers in the white-light source. Depending on the software controlling the modulation, this can provide up to 16.7 million color shades.

@halluynogenyc: how did you get this mega size avatar in? ^^

The device makes pretty less sense for me. on the pic the laser is spreaded an horizontal angle, but the "scanning thing" is guiding a vertikal line, but with just one mirror. so wtf?
