Hey guys, so I finally got my diode in. I'm doing a red build obviously lol it's using the Oclaro HL63193 using the famous X-DRIVE@1a that I bought from non other than DTR... I bought the Single element lens from Thejoker. Anyway This is my first detailed build thread on here so go easy if I forgot anything. Any way lets get to it.

Here's the diode and driver It's powered with a single IMR 18650

The heat sink is nicely built thanks to Flaminpyro and fits perfectly in this host
Next I put the diode into the heat sink and into the head of the host so I could get an idea how long the leads need to be to put onto the contact board.

Next I cut the leads once I got my measurement.

Now its time to get the contact board squared away

Next I soldered the leads to the contact board and pressed it into the host, I couldn't get a picture of it because its to tight of a fit

next I put the host back together and did a test of everything and it works great.. But I broke the clicky switch a few days ago so I'm just waiting for the other one to get here..

I decided to put my pyro built f/l on this beast

I will add more pictures later on a different thread, I get my Nikon back this week..
Also keep in mind this is a multimode diode.
Sorry about the pictures being so big, I resized them all but it only worked for a few.. I'll keep trying.. Hope everyone likes it I know I do lol. I will add to this throughout the day and I'll try and figure out a way to get a beam shot, it's just hard to do without the tailcap. I'd have to have one hand to get the picture and the other bypassing the switch. I'll try it though. oh and I'll get it on the LPM once I get to my father's house. I'll post a video of that on here later
Peace out guys.. Justin

Nice looking build! Picture sizes are fine, they fit on my screen (In width anyway) and I'm currently on a 13 or 14" laptop.

Re: 638 700mw build

What driver is that?
I was running a 1.25A fixed current SL buck driver on the same diode.
For whatever reason I just assumed to use two cells. I got confused when it only put out about 660mA but it was plenty bight so I felt it was ok at the time.. Well I was even more of a noob when I built that than I am now. I had no idea how low of forward volts that red diodes require. When I went to single cell the diode put out about 875mW on a three element. HA!
Oh and get the meter stick out to measure divergence.. hehe jk.. get two!!

Re: 638 700mw build

Great looking build. I too am looking forward to the beam shots. I have a few questions: what driver is that, Is it an x-boost or x-drive? You didn't say what batteries you're using, I am guessing a single 18650? What current is the driver set at? What lens are you using? And how much was the total cost for all the parts? Thanks for posting this.

Re: 638 700mw build

Its a 3element lens, I'm running an 18650 and the driver is set @1.1a and it's the xdrive by lazerer I'll be home in the morning to update everything. The beams shots look great. Thanks everyone.

Re: 638 700mw build

Xdrive is linear driver right.. It could work great for diodes with a forward voltage of at least about 3 volts. I know reds are lower but it should turn the extra volts into heat.
Im pretty sure this is why my diode efficiency went down with two cells.
Im still a newb on this though..

700mW diode driven to 1.1amp... or 1100 mA!

Re: 638 700mw build beam shots added

I don't think he has an LPM. Mine at 1.25 amps put out about 900mW
or.9W! so hes either real close or just under depending on what the driver is doing.

Re: 638 700mw build beam shots added

is I driven to 700mw or 1W?

You have it confused bud. Its not "driven" to 700mw or 1w no laser is.. 700mw is the "output power" if you will of the laser, the "CURRENT" is set to
1.1a or/1100ma @ 3.7v. Hope this helps a little.

lol I new what you meant but I don't think the other dude would of. I'll get this beast on the LPM this week. I was gonna do it yesterday but we ended up doing some yard work. I just need to buy my own LPM and be done with it. It's very annoying to drive 15min just to Use my fathers.
