5mw 405nm eBay blue violet purple laser pointer burning match with magnifier lens.

Yep, most "5mW" pointers of any color are typically overspec, even red ones sometimes. 5 mW of 405 nm would be really dim...

So they typically, well, fudge the numbers a little bit. You're probably getting around 50 - 60 mW of 405 nm there.

Spot on!

I had a couple of cheapie ebay 5mW 405's arrive today; tested at 54mW and 57mW (I was hoping for more...lol)

Skywalker101: I bet your 405 will pop a black balloon at 10 foot distance without a magnifier (both mine do). Its just a matter of getting the dot (and balloon) perfectly still for a second.
