Hello, I don't have the proper resources to do a full review so I'll just put this here. I recently bought this laser from LPF member Alex2893 for $60

The details:

520nm 200mw+ Scifi 501b Laser
Push button on tailcap
G2 lens

It takes 2 16340 batteries. i am using 2 efest 16340's.

It arrived in about 3 days from the time I sent him payment through paypal. We both live in the US so it was quick delivery.

It has a very nice beam, and can burn dark colored plastic bags/wrappers

The beam is very visible in low light and dark areas. Outside at night the beam is fantastic.

He said it is 200+mw. I don't know the exact mw. It is very bright. I will try and get a better beam shot later on at night.

I don't know much about the diode or driver and heatsink. Maybe Alex has more info he can share?

Over all I am pleased with it. a nice find for a low price. Am I mistaken or don't 200mw 520's usually go for a lot more moola? It is used and a resell so I can see it being sold for less. A great deal I feel none the less. Thanks Alex

I'm not sure how to measure it :/ but from about 50ft away the dot looks to be about a couple inches. Ill have to measure it later. I am at work atm and cant do much with it.

Is this a 9mm diode. I ask because of the 2 16340's. I can't see SciFi under driving an expensive diode:undecided:
What am I missing?

It is cuz the divergence is that bad too.

The PLP520B1 will do over 200mW but is also $75 from DTR so that's an outstanding deal if it is that diode:)
Eitan did some really odd things in the end. Trust me I know from repairing them.

Pman, can you run them on 2 16340's?

Hi Max V is 7V and its a 5.6mm diode so two lithos will do . I would have used a boost drive being that the max setting is 450mA to 550ma if its output is 200mW ..that's for the PLP520B

It'd be interesting testing on an LPM. From what others had received, odds are the "200mw" isn't true and it is a very overdriven pl520 or closely rated and not a PLP520B1 which would do 200mw no problem.

Is it a 3.8mm diode by chance?

Im not sure. here is a close up of the lens end. it looks like the lens is about 6mm across.

Only if you feel comfortable of course, is there a way you can remove the lens assembly to get a picture of the diodes can? Taking the lens on and off can cause unwanted debris on the diodes window so I know some people prefer to not remove lenses for that reason. But without an LPM, seeing what size diode is installed can help to further identify which diode is in there.

If it ends up being a 3.8mm can, the Ni**** ndg4216 is a 3.8mm can rated at 100mw and the pl520 is also a 3.8mm can but only 50mw rated. The pl520 is about half the cost though and can be overdriven to around 140mw, which IIRC, others that had purchased a "200mw" 520 rated laser from scifi were coming out around 140mw. I can't see eitan using the ndg4216 cause of price alone, could be wrong of course but who knows..

If it ends up being a 5.6mm can then you could be in luck, it could be a PLP520B1 rated at 120mw or the PLP520B2 rated at 90mw but again price on those arent cheap compared to a PL520.

Another thing to look at is how much these lasers were selling for new as that might give some insight on which parts were used. I don't remember the prices but I know they were comparably cheaper to other companies that offered similar rated 520s.
