Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums. :D I was wondering if 35 mW was enough to pop a balloon from a distance of 10 or more feet. If not, what kind of laser power would I need to do so? Thanks!

a 35mw green will be able to pop balloons, but from 10 feet it probably wouldn't work, but if you had an adjustable focus laser of >30mW it should work

35mW should be able to pop a balloon if the beam diameter is small enough. If you want a laser that pops balloons from 10 feet (actually more like 30 feet) the DX 200 red is a great choice. I have a link to a review of that laser in my signature.

I thought it wouldn't pop at that distance. Would a 35mW show a beam in sun light? How about 75mW?

you would need at least 400mW to see the beam during the day. and even then it would be barely visible.

What company are you thinking of buying a 35mW pointer from? Hope not WickedLasers (the only company I can think of which sells 35mW's), you can get a 50mW from Nova and a carrying case for the same price...

What 35mW laser? A red or green? Just spend an extra $20 and buy a 200mW red laser from DealExtreme.

I was going to buy a green CNI. WL isn't the only people who makes a 35mW pen (CNI). Do these 200mW greenies have a IR filter?

I have a Nova x50 (61=68mW) CNI that destroys balloons up to about ten feet instantly. Just go for the 50mw model and you'll be set.

fwiw, a couple of my buddies have gotten DX true 30's. On of them has a laser brighter than my x50 with better divergence, but the other one's look like 30mW. Just food for thought.
