Just combing through the vast options available to us these days for high power flashlights. Appears quality control, ridiculously efficient & high power emitters and upgraded chinglish is one of many reasons for the spike in new manufacturers and some really nice torches. That said im always looking with one eye for a new handy pocket rocket and 2nd a potential of gutting a perfectly new expensive flashlight and allowing it to live as all LED's aspire, as a proper laser.

I found this little 26650 shell. Big leap from the standard crap hosts from recent memory Check out the pill size, heat-sinking, copper components as well as proper wiring and a nice clicky designed to power a 30mm XM-L T6 drop in. DTR was making 445 drop-in's for a Sipik and it was plug and play, great idea!!

Yet with all these features a flashlight host is designed for one thing only, a flashlight. IMHO there's no comparison in a custom machined laser hosts Vs a flashlight. I would take a used no bling or polish laser host over a the best flashlight every day , all day.

But...If your on a budget this one seems like a good choice. Costs a few bucks. But that's relative with what you don't have to machine or modify. And should work much better supporting some of the HO diodes we have yet to see.

If you do some searching you will find that flashlight is already being used for lasers. A couple of members have pics posted.

DarkSide;

It is a nice SS design.

The brass pill is ample,

but the body being SS is not as conductive as Aluminum.

Larry - Im sure this host would need a few modifications otherwise the remaining components it comes with are typically fabricated for the build..Pill seems darn big..Copper..Heatsink ( appears to be functional) and no spacers etc ...Takes a 26650 . There's a few hosts with similar specs but i personally don't like plastic components in my hosts.

Looks like some have already converted this host into a laser. I'll look for the thread. Curious how much of the original parts were used and what modifications where necessary. If you want plug and play you have to pay...Cheesy reference but true
