Got my 1st Kenom barrel thanks to Senkat for trading with me. Thanks Greg! I didn't have a boost driver though. :-?

So, since I have 2 other barrels and lavadrivers coming, I decided to try and fit a DDL driver in there. Phew! It was a tight fit, but it worked!

* Sony Nec Optiarc 7190 open can diode
* 422mA's - 2 X 3.6 volt RCR123 rechargeable lithium batteries
* AixiZ acrylic lens
* 243.7mW's

I have been 'eyeing' these barrels for some time now. Just drooling over them from pictures. They are even sweeter that I had hoped for! Everything about the design is perfect. I really like the tail switch. Also, the design of the diode mount, using the barrel as the heatsink.

Two thumbs up Kenom! 8-)

Although it looks like you've got the driver in the battery chamber not the top section with a wire running to the spring on the clicky switch.  Whassup with that?  OH I see I think.  YOu used it to test the functionality.   heh.

Your admiration of my product means a lot coming from the maker of the Mxdl mod monster.

The wire in the picture just looks like it is connected to the clicky spring. It's just parts laying there. Not connected.

You are right about the driver being in the battery chamber! I put it in there because I used an MXDL circuit board to build the driver, and being there, the batteries can 'push' against it. The 'stop ring' inside the tube, holds it from slipping. (I had to drill out the 'stop ring' so that it had a larger diameter for the DDL components to fit)

I like the aperture cap too! :D

These barrels are really a great design! People who did not buy them are missing out...

I couldn't agree more.  but then again I'm probably biased!!!  LOL

As far as the focus is concerned I did make a tool to focus the barrel without the additional ring and can still see the beam through the tool I made.  YOu still need to widen the aperture cap in order to use it but it works AWESOME.  I'll post a picture of it.
The tool fits inside the grooves on the side of the lens for focusing.  Well, you'll see it's pretty self explanitory.

That is sweet, Kenom.

Nice work (as usual) Jayrob.

Thanks Dave! I know you are gearing up for your first build. How's it going so far?

Kenom, that's a good idea with the focus tube/tool. Being able to see the beam/spot while focussing. So far, I usually just leave it around the 5' focal point. Adjustments from there are just a 'touch' clockwise. I can turn the focus ring on mine by catching the edge of the 'finger grip' focus ring with a finger nail.

'MXDL mod monster' :D

Of course I still like the MXDL's too, but that barrel of yours is really a great piece of work and design!
